Dr. Maurice A. Lee

Dr. Maurice A. Lee, a successful pharmacist, was born on August 4, 1976. He received his Baccalaureate of Science in Biology from South Carolina State University. He furthered his education at the Medical University of South Carolina and received a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree, thus becoming the first black male pharmacist from Eutawville, SC. Presently, he is employed by Walgreens Pharmacy of Orangeburg, SC, as the Pharmacy Manager. Dr. Lee has become quite a cognoscente in the health profession and continues to share a copious amount of knowledge throughout the communities, schools, and churches enlightening people about healthcare and other health matters.

Dr. Lee is well aware of the possible hardships endured by students longing to pursue higher education because he himself was once a student struggling to fulfill a dream that would only be obtainable through a post-secondary education. To commemorate his 30th birthday, Dr. Lee invested his personal funds and established the M.A. Lee Scholarship Fund, which he deemed a vital part of his being able to “Pay it Forward” for the youth in his community. This vision continued to grow and now the M A Lee Scholarship is extended to students nationwide to assist with the financial obligations that accompany the college experience. Each year on the first weekend in August, Dr. Lee and the M A Lee Scholarship Fund host a gala to celebrate and recognize the M A Lee Scholarship recipients and their families. Because of his overwhelming desire to see others empowered through education, the establishment of this scholarship only helps to bring his desires into fruition. Dr. Lee is committed to see not only the recipients, but young people everywhere, persevere on the journey to excellence in the midst of financial adversities.

On his journey of life, Dr. Lee has accomplished much and is well-respected for his efforts.

In 2008, he was honored by the Orangeburg Chapter of Links, Inc for outstanding services provided to the youth throughout the community. In the same year, he was also featured as one of Essence Magazine’s 2008 Do Right Men. Do Right Men are young, single black men recognized for their efforts to make a difference in their communities. He was also featured in the 16th Issue of KRAVE Magazine as they shined the spotlight on Movers & Shakers in various communities.

Dr. Lee is a firm believer that you should never stop dreaming. He dreamed of pursuing an acting career and he was able to experience the world of entertainment when he was asked to appear on Episode #355 of Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns. This year alone has proven to be a year of prosperity and “dreams come true” as well. He was given the Key to the City of Columbia by the city’s mayor. Dr. Lee was also named as a McDonald’s Man of McCafe’ and he has authored his first book, “Life Experiences.”

Based upon his life’s testament, it is evident that Dr. Lee has been purposed to make a difference and impart hope in the lives of many.
